ערקוב
עַרְקוּבm. (עָקַב, Par.) (curve, hough, ham, the inner part of the knee; the inner angle of the joint which unites the thigh and the leg of an animal. Bekh.VI, 11 זנב העגל … לע׳ if the tail of a (first-born) calf does not reach the ʿarḳub; לאיזה ע׳ אמרו which ʿarḳub (curve) is meant? לע׳ שבאמצע הירך the ʿarḳub in the thigh, expl. ib. 41a קפץ העליונהוכ׳ the upper joint (the inner part of the knee), not the lower joint (knuckle); Tosef. ib. IV, 14. Tam.IV, 2 (31a) נוקבו מתוך עַרְקוּבוֹוכ׳ Bab. ed. (Mish. עַרְכּוּבוֹ) he makes a hole through its ham and suspends it.
